~Bathroom Makeover~

I saw this pin on Pinterest a while back and I really fell in love with the color scheme and the rug!

I'm loving the double shower curtain, AND the rug. Grey and yellow my new color scheme for my bathroom

It is so pretty! I love the yellow and gray combination and am excited to transform our main bathroom into something like this. We already have granite counter tops in our bathroom thanks to the previous owners, and the tile is great too. We painted the cabinets black after the new year, so the only things left to do are get rid of the monkey shower curtain, paint and find the accessories I need. I originally planned to have this bathroom decorated cute for the kids, but soon realized this is the main bathroom that guests use when they come over, so I want it to be pretty. This is the first project on my list to start on for July.

Here is the link for this picture, it comes from non other than HGTV, my favorite channel!

::Where have you been??::

I have been MIA! I got pregnant in April and was really sick until about 22 weeks, and haven't had the energy or the drive to do ANYTHING!!!

It has taken me longer to do projects, but I have finally got some stuff done!

Since I am having a baby in about 3 1/2 weeks, I decided I wanted to make a cute car seat tent.

I found  the perfect tutorial of one I wanted to make over at Sumo's Sweet Stuff. If you are wanting to try this car seat tent, please make sure to read through the entire tutorial and make sure you understand it before you start. I didn't, and made a lot of the same mistakes that Summer made when making hers. ;) It turned out beautiful and I love it. I added some rick rack around my edges, and put bows on my handles instead of having them tie like Summer did. What do you think?

I seriously love how it turned out! I got the fabric from Hobby Lobby. The pleats were really hard for me, I'd never done that before, but I was so proud of myself, I didn't have to call my Mom (the master sewer) once for help! Go me!

I have also been working on recovering some sweet lamps I got from my parents. They belonged to my Grandma, and I saw them at my parents house and fell in LOVE with them. I had this great plan to cover the lamp shade in burlap in that cute squiggly design that is all over blog land. Well, I didn't really think it through very well, cause it took a lot longer than I thought and it is still not done! I have before pics of the lamp, but not after yet, I don't know if it will ever get done!

I spray painted the base just a creamy white and they look fabulous, but that darn massive lamp shade is giving me so much grief, and my laziness and pregnant swollen feet kept getting in the way, so we'll see what the finished product looks like, maybe after the new year!

One more thing that we've been doing around the house, art projects. My little 4 year old has quite an imagination, she loves to draw pics and color! My oldest sister decided she wanted all the grandkids to do "art trading cards" for our parents for Christmas, so I got out the cards, all my art supplies that I never let my little girl play with, and let her go to town. She had so much fun gluing, glittering, buttoning, flowering, coloring and making her cards beautiful for grandma and grandpa! Here is the fun art day we had:

I love that I let her have free reign on this project because it really let her creativity come out and allowed her to see what she can do. She did want a little help with drawing a turkey body, a Christmas tree, and to do a glue flower so she could sprinkle some glitter on it, but other than that the rest is all her. I love that she wrote my name on one of her cards, she is really into writing names right now, hers, mine, and Daddy's!

Well that is most of what I have been up too aside from working and then coming home to put my feet up! I have a few more projects for baby girl that i'm working on now and hope to have finsihed before she comes so i'll post those as soon as I have them done! Thanks for stopping by!

:: Entry Way::

I am so excited that I am finally getting this done. I have never liked how I had my entry way since we moved in. I put of redoing it because we are going to start a major paint project and I thought I would just wait. But, I couldn't take the bare wall with huge holes in it anymore. So, this last weekend, while celebrating my 5 year wedding anniversary, the Hubs and I headed on over to Home Goods in search of the perfect mirror for our entry way. I found it. It is perfect! We hung it up last night, and put the fun pics of our little sweetie up around it. There are a few more items that I want to purchase to hang up there, but I think it turned out real nice. What do you think??

I got my idea for this from this blog, she has such great ideas. I really like the idea of her using the first initial of her last name as a decorator piece, I'm definitely going to have to get an N. Do you have an entry way you are working on?? I'd love to see pics, or hear your ideas.

:: Curtains ::

Here are the curtains I made for my little girls room. They were super easy, just had to hem all for sides, and leave the top open to slide on the rod. I made them super long, floor to ceiling to block out most of the light coming into the room. I love how they turned out, don't you?

:: I didn't do a tutorial on these, but they are so easy. I have seen some good tutorials on these websites on curtains though. Go check them out!

:: Drum roll please ::

I finally finished my little girls big girl room! I am so excited to show you all the finished pics!

don't mind the missing drawers, I don't have the fabric I need to finish the drawers.

See the amazing before and after pics of this desk in the next post.

:: From drab to fab ::

Drew found this desk @ D.I. for $50. He surprised me by sanding it, and giving it a fresh coat of paint. Before I let him put the knobs on I needed to give it a little love. Let me know what you think!
It's the perfect size for Izzie's room and I love the way it turned out!

Spring Letters

cLast year I made these spring letter blocks, and this year I thought they needed something a little more to them. I was checking out Market Yourself Monday on Sumo's Sweet Stuff and saw these adorable blocks over at Inspiring Creations. I thought I could just make a few of those fun paper flowers and add some buttons and ribbon to my blocks too. So thank you Lindsay for the tutorial and the "inspiration".

St. Patty's Day Burlap Wreath

Ever since I saw this wreath that Jen over at Tater tots and Jello made I wanted to try one too. I figured since I have NO St. Patty's Day decorations (except for the cute leprechaun hat we just made in craft club) I would do a St. Patty's Day one. I don't think mine turned out near as cute as Jen's but I like it. She has a tutorial of how to make it too! Thanks Jen for sharing your talents with all of us!

Izzie's big girl room makeover

Well, it's finally that time to change Izzie's room. We moved in just over a year ago and about 6 months ago I decided how I wanted to paint it. Well, I finally have the paint and am ready to get going on this big project. Here are some pics of the before so you can see how boring it is.

Notice the ugly curtains, we need to fix that right away!

List of what is going to be done:

*paint all walls (may take a while since there will be lots of stripes)
*paint an older dresser we have~remove the changing table
*paint the bookshelf
*remove the large cardboard box and make a felt playhouse cover for it (more on that in my next post!)
*make curtains, I bought the ones that are in there and they are not near dark enough. We need some serious black out curtains for that girls room, so I've got some cute ideas that i'm excited to try out.
*make a feather boa wreath
*finish magnet board
*find bedding

This is a tall order and lots to do, but i'm so excited to finally be working on it. Part of my delay was that I'm going to need to move her into our spare bedroom, which until recently was FULL of junk! Now that I have that cleaned out, I can get going. I'm excited to show you all the finished product too. I will be doing posts of projects that I put together, and then a final reveal...get excited!

Bow Holder

I made this bow holder for my little girls room to match her bedding. I got the tutorial from Make it and Love it. I love all of Ashley's stuff over at Make it and Love it and think she is increadibly talented. I love all her how to tips for sewing since i'm going to be trying out some projects soon.

Door Headboard

I love HGTV and years ago I saw some designer, can't remember who, use an old door as a headboard. I have loved that idea ever since. My SIL, Brooke, saw the same thing and went to work trying to find out how to make one. Well, she found the "how to" on Martha Stewart. I found my old door at a consignment shop in SLC called Emilie Jayne (absolutely love that store, if you have time go check it out it's super fun!) My door was $50 and my sweet husband sanded down the whole thing and helped me paint it. We attached some crown molding to the top and hung it over our bed. I love the way it turned out! Now I just need to get some different bedding...

Old Window Frame Project

I got this idea from my cute SIL, Brooke. When they moved into their new home (well older, new for them) they gutted the whole thing. Lucky for them they had these old windows that they removed. I love how big it is since I have large walls to cover. It was super easy too, all you need is an old window. I would recommend cleaning it really well. I touched up some of the paint, and then just cut paper to the size of each window pane and added pics and embellishments. I just used tape to hold the paper in so that I can change out the pics when I need to. Super fun, and super cute!
